Dr. Lisa D. (Burns) Wood is a first-generation college graduate who earned her Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction-Curriculum Studies Specialization, and a minor in Art Education at Indiana University, Bloomington.

As a licensed Early Childhood-Primary Educator, Wood has nine years of experience teaching children, and an additional combined 16 years of experience in teaching, supervising, advising, and researching in higher education for a total of 25 years. She has taught writing at a community college, taught and conducted research at a research-intensive university (Indiana University Bloomington) taught graduate students online at Ball State Teachers' college, and continues to serve as an Assistant and Associate Adjunct Faculty Professor in Curriculum and Instruction/Art Education teaching Arts Integration, Arts, Museums, Artifacts, and Life, The Artist Within, and Art, Interdisciplinarity & Education, just to name a few. A multi-published author, curriculum designer, grant writer, editor, and artist she has presented at conferences locally, nationally, and internationally. Her research and advocacy interests focus on expressive arts, play, creativity, and empowerment.
Through her research, she emphasizes narrative and visual experiences, which draw from the orientations of qualitative and arts-based research approaches.
She is currently the Co-Owner, C.E.O., Filmmaker, Producer, Photographer, Researcher and Grant Writer of an Emmy award-winning multimedia company, and she has been nominated for two Emmy’s and is a gold and silver Telly recipient for the categories of: General History and Short Form Documentary for Frank Lloyd Wright’s Samara House, and recipient of multiple silver and bronze Tellys.
